Bringing the Pantone Colour of the Year Into Your Bedroom

In January 2025, titans of the colour world Pantone revealed their long-anticipated Colour of the Year. Designed to not only reflect the trends and styles of the year just gone, the Colour of the Year is an invitation for designers, stylists and creatives to embrace this prolific shade as part of their visual creations for the 12 months ahead. And here at Milola, we love embedding these beautiful, contemporary colours into our signature Scandi styles.
This year, the Colour of the Year was a soft brown taupe shade, entitled Mocha Mousse (17-1230) - designed to represent ‘a rich neutrality’ through its warm blend of pinks, browns, beiges and creams. A shade that falls nicely into the earthy Scandi palette, it creates feelings of cosiness, comfort and plushness, bringing neutrals to the forefront of many interior design styles and interpretations.
But as homeowners, how do we capture that feeling comfort and cosiness in our rest spaces using the Mocha Mousse shade? How can we bring the Pantone Colour of the Year into our bedrooms?

Finding The Perfect Bed Frame
One of the easiest ways to bring that soft, warm shade of Mocha Mousse into your bedroom is by transforming your bed itself – embracing coffee tones and neutrals into your bedframe, your headboard and your bedding. Whilst it might not be possible to get an exact colour match for the Pantone shade, working with colours of a similar tone, depth, shade and colour family can be a great way to introduce new furniture pieces into your space.
The GAYA Storage Bed, for example, draws from the soft dove grey tones of the Mousse shade, with a comfortable padded headboard and fabric covered frame, inviting softness, cosiness and an all-round feeling of comfort into your room. The FREEDOM Upholstered bed, however, plays with the pink and brown hues of the colour, creating a focal point and a textural centerpiece for your room, designed to make an impact.
Wood is another great option for those looking to experiment with neutral browns in their homes, as the range of finishes and stains is almost endless when it comes to wooden bed frames from Milola. The naturally softer, paler and creamier wood tones are a great option for bed frames with exposed wooden features, such as SIRLIG, LYS or ASPECT.
Sourcing Soft Furnishings in Mocha Mousse
When it comes to fabric colours and the tones of your soft furnishings, the selection is broad and varied, with many fabrics being customisable to your exact specification. Whilst dressing your space entirely in one shade might feel a little overwhelming, it can often be a good idea to work in your chosen shade through patterns, borders and pops of colour against one solid base. If your duvet cover is plain, for example, a patterned blanket or a neutral patterned throw pillow could be a great option to add some visual interest to your space.
Similarly, if your curtains are particularly bold and heavily patterned, then your additional furnishings might be minimalist and stripped back – focusing on the colour palette, rather than the print.
Accent chairs are another great way to bring that easy softness and relaxed feel into your room, with plush lounge chairs like the JILL Armchair from Bolzan or the FLAG Chair bringing not only additional seating but a simple introduction of colour into your sleeping area.
Finally, if in doubt – add a rug! Area rugs are a useful accessory for bringing in additional colour, texture and warmth to a space, with many Scandi inspired rugs available in those neutral coffee tones from the Mocha Mousse palette. Whether you’re looking for something light and clean like the FRIOLENTO Rug in Sand or something textured and thick like the MyFelt BELA rug, these additional furnishings can really help to bring bedrooms together.
Finding The Right Furniture
While wood can be a useful way to bring that earthy, organic Mocha Mousse feel to your bedframe, it can also be used as the foundation for your furniture shopping as well. Matching bedroom sets of vanity tables, dressers, desks, wardrobes and bedside tables can create a comforting sense of calm and cohesion in a space, building up a cohesive and continuous line of colour throughout the room.
The Milola SIRLIG range, for instance, offers a collection of wooden furniture pieces, all designed in the same style, with the same wood grains, finishes, colours and tones – perfect for simple selections and creating a coordinated neutral feel in a bedroom. From the bedside table to the tall boy dresser, the wood variations can be customised to suit your exact style, whether you want to find the perfect colour match for the Mocha Mousse or simply find a stain that works for you.
Mismatched yet complimentary furniture can also be a good way to build up a palette in a room, with each piece drawing on different elements of the original Pantone colour. You could pair the VELVET Ribbed Nightstand from Kristensen Kristensen, for example, with the fabric FLAG Bench and the LYS Chest of Drawers, each bringing their own sense of softness, with plush fabrics, rounded edges and brown-toned finishes to the room overall.
Embracing The Mocha Mousse Aesthetic
One of the most interesting, engaging and exciting elements of the Pantone Colour of the Year is often not the colour itself – but what the colour can represent when used in a design. As described by Pantone themselves, the Mocha Mousse shade ‘blends our desire for comfort and opulence to present a tasteful touch of glamor.’ It’s a colour that inspires both rest, relaxation and warmth, as well as luxury, elegance and refinement.
So even if you struggle to find the perfect mocha-toned bedding or the right wood stain for your mousse-inspired bedroom, the simple intertwining of comfort and luxury is a great start to help you create your dream Pantone bedroom.
